Exactly what I was looking for. Magnet is strong and it looks fantastic.

    • Michael D (store manager)

So glad it works great for you Mathew! Thanks again!
      -Michael

  2. Jarrett S. (verified owner)

The magnets are really strong and the quality wood is great! Mine is in a tile backsplash so i was a bit afraid to drill into my tile so i opted with an adhesive strip. I need to reapply the strip get a stronger one because the strength of the magnets pulls the adhesive off. For anyone with the same situation if you go the adhesive route try and find the strongest adhesive. I may just end up drilling it so i don’t have to worry about that. But as far as quality goes this was a 5/5 stars

    • Michael D (store manager)

Absolutely Jarrett! Thank you so much for your positive review. We always recommend mounting with screws if at all possible. I really appreciate your feedback!

I’m really happy with my 16″ magnetic knife holder. It looks great, keeps my knives within reach, and saves a lot of space in my kitchen. Worth every penny. Great customer service, too.

  4. Urockme

I have two of these in walnut. Husband installed them quickly, no problems. Look great on the wall. Got rid of the old knife block and freed up counter space. Highly recommend.

  5. Tim Taylor

There were a few reviews that convinced me to go with this one, but it really is that good. Magnets go almost all the way to the edge, and there are very few dead spots around the screws. This is used daily throughout the day, and has been working extremely well for years. I’ve recommended this specific one to a few people. Our knives haven’t had any damage from this, and the holder is still looking great. Well done!

The pictured knife 2nd from the right is our heaviest, and is about 8oz/220g for reference. It stays put just fine. This could easily take heavier cutlery.

This mount makes the knives look classier than they are. And when we place or pull the knives from the mount, there is just a gentle pull instead of a yank and clank. There seems to be less wear and tear on the knives compared to metal mounts, too. The walnut is the real deal and a wonderful complement to the kitchen. I had to use double sided tape since it was mounted to tile. It works perfectly. I bit more expensive that some other brands, but definitely worth it!

  7. The Santos’s

Just moved houses and the buyers requested I leave my knife block so it didn’t leave holes where I mounted it. I was hesitant but figured I’d just buy another, which I’m doing now. I actually upgraded from the 18 to the 20 inch because it was a little bit of a tight squeeze. I keep two 8” chefs knives, a bread knife, a skinny looking chef knife, a filet knife, a paring knife and a pair of scissors on this. The 18” held it all, but I just wanted a little more room since I’m having to buy again.

The magnets are strong, but it gets a little less strong around the mounting area on each end because there are no magnets where the screws are. Still it does a great job of holding the knives and looks super classy in the kitchen!

  8. Mighty M. Mouse

Let me say at the outset that now, after I have “fixed” it, I would give it 10 stars! It’s nearly perfect except just one thing.

As you can see from the photos, the back of my kitchen counter has a 7/8 of an inch wide baseboard and I really needed to add another piece of wood behind the product to get the magnetic holder FURTHER AWAY FROM THE WALL. I purchased two boards of black walnut (on ebLay) of exactly the same 12 in. length as the product, except that one board was 1/2 in. thick and the other board was 3/4 in. thick and both boards were 2 in. wide, unlike the 1 3/4 in. width of the product. I hid the extra 1/4 in. by putting all of if at the bottom. I also purchased four screws, two 1/2 in. longer and two 3/4 in. longer because I didn’t know which thickness of board I was going to use.

I had to wait a week for the black walnut boards. It was easy enough to glue them and clamp them and finally extend the screw holes through the board. It seems the screws they supplied were too long because I ended up having to use the 1/2-in longer screws with the 3/4-in wider board. The 1/2-in wider board wasn’t wide enough to comfortably grab the knives off of the magnetic board. I really felt it needed the full inch and a half of the two 3/4-in boards combined.

I have a set of Coolina Kitchen Knives, and they are pretty heavy. Especially the one called the LIXY. It weighs over 2 lbs. So, I read some reviews and the Heirloom was rated best overall. And an added plus, It’s American made. I mounted it on my kitchen wall above the counter, and I stuck the LIXY onto it and held my breath…It grabbed it and holds that Big Boy with no trouble at all. This knife strip comes in different lengths, so I layed out my knives side by side with about an inch of space between them, and I ordered one with a couple of inches to spare, and it’s the perfect size. I highly recommend Heirloom Products. It cost a little more, but it does exactly what I wanted it to do. Worth every penny.

  10. Nicole Smith

I needed this for my steak knives and it’s perfect. I attached it to the side of my cabinet with double stick craft tape because the cabinet is a thin piece of wood and steak knives are light and it worked great. The magnet is perfect strength to hold tight but not feel like I’m going to bend my knife taking it off. Love it

  11. J. H.

Came with screws for mounting and wood plugs for filling the holes. The wood plugs are a bit looser and thinner than I’d prefer, but no issues, and again, looks good.

Board holds all of my everyday knives and a pair of shears without issues and nothing is at risk of falling off. The scissors/sheers might be a little loose, but it’s their shape, more than anything.

    Bottom line: Would buy again.

This thing elevates your chef game another notch. Plus, it looks cool on your wall. However, don’t even think of trying to use double-sided tape or even construction adhesive to mount this. You NEED to use screws and anchors. Don’t fight it, just accept it and move on. We have a tile backsplash so I simply drilled 2 holes with a mortar/concrete bit. Word of advice – measure distance AND level twice (or 3 or 4x). You don’t want to install this crooked.

  13. A.S.K.

I purchased the 10” Walnut to install on the side of a cabinet in a kitchen with limited counter space. I didn’t want to install on the tile backsplash because of limited good locations and because anything placed in front of it on the counter would constantly be in the way. So far, this is perfect for me. I keep a minimal knife collection, so the size is great. I could probably fit 1-2 more which is more than enough.

  14. S.K.B.

This is everything I hoped it would be. I was very hesitant to buy it bc I’ve been looking all over and I have seen some horrible reviews of them just falling apart, but this one is working perfect for me! It’s been about 2 or 3 weeks. I will update if something changes!

I wanted knives hidden. My husband the cook wanted them on a magnetic strip to protect them. We compromised by using this strip inside a drawer. Since the drawer base material isn’t very thick we couldn’t screw through the holes to install. Instead I covered the back of the knife strip with those removable velcro picture hanging strips and stuck it down onto the drawer base so it didn’t move around. It works perfectly and everyone is happy.

I’ve had this for almost a month — so far so good. Perfect for our small apartment kitchen. Excellent adhesion to our old frig which has a slightly dimpled surface. it looks like it accomplishes this by adding a gripping material on the surface (that faces the frig) as well as a strong magnet. Also it’s made in the USA!

  17. T. Caperton

I am blown away by how great these knife holders are (I bought 3). They are super strong and great for holding knives whether they are pointed up or down. I love the walnut wood, and it’s such a great look, especially when compared to the plain looking stainless steel ones. I rubbed the walnut wood down with some rejuvenating oil to make the wood look even better. I 100% recommend these knife holders!

  18. Michael

The walnut of these knife blocks are really beautiful pieces, and have some great character. If you don’t have a knife strip already, they are awesome for efficiency, safety and looks.

The magnets are very strong except for near the plugs, but even there they can hold a paring knife with ease.

    A couple notes on installation:

    – I found that sticking a little bit of double sided carpet tape to the backs helped me align and level them before I drilled the holes. This makes it way easier to install.

    – The plugs have a slight taper, so make sure you install them the correct direction

    – In my case, I was mounting to the side of a cabinet instead of a wall. If you’re doing the same, a #10 bolt / washer / nut works great. They feel so stable I could do a pull up on them.

Super pleased with us knife holder, it has been up for two years and we’ve had no issues despite it being Epoxy bonded to the tile, I did not use nails or screws. Love having my favorite Global knives accessible and on display. I sold my chunky knife block when I purchased this, best move ever!

Pro tip, if you want to use Epoxy to bond to the tile, make sure to let it cure a full 24-36 hours before putting any knives on it. I used masking tape to secure it while the epoxy hardened over a full day.

After 25 years and multiple moves, my workmanlike knife magnets were due to be replaced. I searched hard for a replacement that was equal parts strong and beautiful. This strong and handsome walnut version more than does the trick. I worried that my large collection of knives would need Heirloom’s double-magnet version, but the single magnet strip holds all 17 knives–chef’s, santoku, cleaver, serrated, paring, and more–with no slippage at all. This product is as beautiful as it is practical. I highly recommend it.

Not sure what happened with anyone who claims to have had issues with the magnets in this holder. I bought two of these and both have VERY strong magnets. As you can see in the image it easily holds a heavy cleaver, handle down, without any issues. The sharpener is the only piece of the knife set in the image that isn’t held in place extremely well, but it still works well enough. The magnets are so strong that I had to remount the top block to make it more secure against the wall. When I would pull the cleaver loose the pull between the block and cleaver was strong enough that it would rock the block on the wall. I washed both of these wooden blocks before mounting and then oiled both with cutting board oil. Also based on some of the reviews I left a little of the screw plugs sticking out from the block so I could remove them if needed, which helped when I need to remount the top block.

I was a little disappointed that the color variation is pretty significant between two the same items. You can see the difference in the image, that is the color difference, that is not a lighting issue. There was also no attempt to match the color of the screw plugs to the color of the blocks, as you can also see in the image. However, ultimately neither of those imperfections are the end of the world for me.

There were definitely cheaper alternatives, but based on my experience so far I would definitely recommend these blocks to anyone looking for a wall knife hanger.

I bought 2 of these in Walnut. They’re perfect for all my knives and the magnets inside are very strong.
FYI….. if you buy two of these, don’t be like me and let them touch together on the display side.
I made that mistake and pinched my finger pretty good! Totally My fault.
    Hurt like you know what…
    The magnets ARE Strong!
I Highly recommend these knife holders especially if you have expensive knives and don’t want them scratched. That’s why I bought them.
Very good quality and would buy again.

I had no problem hanging this by myself, and I even somehow managed to place it right over a stud. Instructions and screws, and anchors worked perfectly. The magnet is very strong, and even though I only hang my most used five knives, I hung five more things on it for the photo to show how much this holds. Naturally, be aware that the magnet near the screws will not be as strong as the rest of the piece, so order the size/length accordingly. I ordered the 20-inch one, and you can see that maybe I have an inch or more, all the way to the end, to hang more knives. In other words, the magnet does work all the way to the very ends of the piece. Beautiful and functional

Mounted on the side of wood cabinet, this rack is very discreet. An 11″ model can comfortably hold 7 knives as seen in photo. Some reviewers mention that knives don’t stick over the mounting holes as there are no magnets there. Put your widest knives in those 2 locations – otherwise such wide knives would stick with too much force elsewhere.
One thing I would add to the excellent mounting instructions – if screwing into wood backing place a small washer behind each screw head so as not to deform knife block wood as you tighten solidly.

Love this! Wanted a wood covered magnet so as to not damage my knives. The magnet is strong and I have had no issues with knives slipping or falling off. The only thing that slipped a bit was my kitchen shears. Instead of the screws I used heavy duty silicone tape to adhere to the tiles. I didn’t want to damage them in case I didn’t like it. My only regret is not getting a longer one. I believe I got the 14” one and I probably could have gone with a little bit longer size.

I don’t normally write reviews, but I’m really very pleased with this purchase!!

When this product arrived it had some small issues (nothing that should keep you from purchasing it). When I addressed the issues with customer support, they responded quickly, informatively, and kindly. My concerns were dispelled immediately. This is a great product. The customer service is absolutely stellar. I highly, highly recommend this product. Installation was super easy. All you need is a level. The rest is provided. After 5 minutes it was up. It displays my knives beautifully without taking away from the beauty of the knives. I have 9 heavy duty professional kitchen knives just to give you an idea of the weight capacity of the magnet. I could probably put 11 knives on there in total, depending on the size of course. But I don’t have 11 knives. Anyways, I did several hours of research to find this product buried deep within the recesses of my search. I’m not sure why that it is. This product should be recommended by search engines and at the top of the list. Yes, it’s somewhat pricey. Yes, it’s high quality. Yes, it’s worth purchasing. No question. I will be buying from this seller again. Also, no question.

My old knife bar was inexpensive, but held my knives really well until recently, when the magnetic strip started to detach from the plastic surround. I decided I’d like to have something better looking this time and based on reviews, ordered a product that looked similar to this but, for less money. We installed it only to find that my knives would swing when I placed them on the bar; although they would hang, they hung at a tilt. Needless to say, I returned that one.

This bar caught my eye for its good looks, but my attention stayed when I noticed it is made in America. It also had reviews which spoke to my concerns about about a firm grip for my knives. As the picture and video show, my knives (including my heavier Shun) are securely – but not too securely – stored. I like my new knife bar so well that I’ve ordered a second one.

The magnetic knife holder was delivered quickly and was easy to install. Due to location of studs and layout of kitchen, I had to use the drywall anchors rather than go into the studs, which I would have preferred. However, they hold well so far. Magnet is powerful enough for all of my knives, but not quite enough for the sharpening steel, though that might be due to the shape rather than the weight. One of the wood plugs fits loose, so I will probably have to use an adhesive to get it to stay. Overall very happy with look and functionality.

  29. Jamie

I love this magnetic holder. I purchased the 20″ Walnut holder and though the picture makes it look a lighter color it actually matches my Walnut color in my kitchen very well. I was very impressed form the moment I opened the package. Everything was in great condition and the instruction manual was clear and concise.

Good bye dulling, counter hog, and germ holding knife block forever.

The magnet is very strong and holds my knives well. If you are on the fence over this just add it to your cart and buy it. I have researched many knife holders for my blog and this is a clear winner for me and my followers.

I mounted my 30” walnut strip to my granite backsplash with T-Rex Extreme Mounting Tape. Using the full 60” in that comes in the package, it is rated for holding 50 pounds. I put a double strip on the back of the knife holder. (I had to cut one 30” strip of tape in half lengthwise so that both strips of tape would sit flat on the back of the knife holder since two strips would be wider than the wood and there would be a hump in the tape where the two strips overlap) To install it, I placed it on top of my level then raised the level up to the location I wanted, checked to make sure it was straight and then pushed it back against the granite for a perfect and easy install. The tape is holding extremely well. There is not even the tiniest bit of play or movement with 12 knives attached. I do wish the magnet was a teeny bit stronger as some of my long thin Japanese knives will spin if not at the right place but If you move the knife up or down a few millimeters you can always find a spot where it will hold tight. My American and German knives have no problem sticking in any position.

I really like the wood grain look, and the magnet(s) are strong enough to hold my knives – I have some big ones. 1 star off because one of the two plugs provided – which by the way were a great match for the grain and look really good – was slightly thick, and I had to sand it down to fit in without bottoming out on the screw we were trying to hide. So, thirty seconds with 80 grit sandpaper and it was fine.

    Excellent product would recommend.

2nd purchase! I sold the old house and moved away. Missed the knife magnet in the new house so I bought it again. Same comments apply to this 2nd purchase…. ❤️ this product!

1st purchase review: Easy to install, keeps knives strongly and securely attached to the wood, protects the knife edge!!. I loaded it up with my most used knives, all are held firmly in place..and it’s so quick and easy to grab the specific knife I need without searching through a drawer or knife block. I Love this, it’s worth every penny! I ordered walnut not realizing how dark that was… but put it up anyway..no regrets.

Easy to mount, strong magnets all the way to the edges – as advertised. Just have a beef about the wood fillers for the screw holes. The instructions say to “tap gently until flush”. Mine dropped into the holes and won’t come out. So it seems the sizing for the plugs was a little too small. We tried using a vacuum to pull them out – so we could reseat them with a little glue to hold them flush – but the diameter of the plugs at its widest is just enough to hold them in. Either that or the holes are slightly tapered out? Like I said, the plugs just dropped in. So essentially I need a second set of plugs to fill the holes and to get to a flush installation. Doubt they sell those separately.

Ultimately it’s a nice product, a little pricey, but strong magnets. Just disappointed at the look. The plugs dropped in so far it appears as if their aren’t any plugs in. So I could have simply touched up the screw heads with brown paint and had the same look.

  34. Lionheart

First off, I’m a 59 yr old female, very adept with a butter knife and heel of a shoe. After reading reviews and knowing the number of knives this was to hold… I stared at this thing for a good long while. I took a stiff shot of diet coke and took the plunge. I used a Phillips screwdriver and a small level, that’s it. Had gorilla tape but decided against it, I found the provided metal wall anchors held exceptionally well in the drywall. I had only used plastic in the past or the metal ‘winged bolts’ that were always useless. Most just left big holes and a lot of frustrating work. These anchors were amazing, I’ll never use anything else again. The magnet on this strip had a huge job as well, as you can see in the pic. I have several very large stainless steel knives that require intense magnetic hold. The reason I was willing to pay more was in part for this expectation, it holds them well. Nice wood quality and finish. I got the Walnut to match my floors. It is very well made, screw plugs provided make a nice clean finish. Even tho I felt this was a bit pricey, I believe I got what I paid for in finish, magnet strength and ease and stability of installation. Happy with it.

I don’t often review, usually just when I’m extremely pleased with a product that was hard to choose amongst many or I have an experience that might help others- both in this case, I believe. I started shopping magnetic knife holders to accent our remodeled kitchen so this was new territory. I feel fortunate that I landed on this one:

-Magnet seems strong and is currently holding most of the knives that came in standard butcher block collection.
-The color and description are true to image, which is not always common, especially since this is a wood product.
-The wood is a nice quality and I have darker wood floors but went with the walnut because I like to see the grain, almost don’t want to cover it with the knives!
-I rated product fives, including mount, etc., although I didn’t standard mount- see below, but had no complaints.
-Holder does sit semi-close to the wall, so if you need a lot of depth, look elsewhere, but seems reasonable to me!
-The item arrived as scheduled, a bday gift for my husband since he said he liked the first one, now we have two!

NOTE FOR TILE MOUNTERS: We have large, slightly rippled subway tile backsplash which I was concerned about mounting on since I had no plans to drill holes. Asked Home Depot about options and came back w/extreme mount double-sided strip, looks like thick, wide electrical tape. I stretched a strip across the back of the holder but before adhering to wall, I added a bit of Gorilla Glue to the ends of the tape strip as I pressed the tape to the back of the holder- I did not remove the covering from the second side of the tape right away, but set something heavy on top of the holder to help it set for an hour or so, just to give it time to, “cure.” A while later, I peeled the covering off the tape to mount and let me say, just be sure you know where you want this thing on the wall, because when I lightly pressed it to the location and felt I was a hair crooked, I tried to quickly grab it off and no dice! Looks like these lovely knife holders will be staying with the house! Sorry for length, hope it helped! 🙂

  36. Joshua L Athy

Nothing about this item has given me any concern over my decision to buy it. It was exactly as described and looks amazing on my wall. The magnets are very strong and the craftsmanship of the entire item is near perfect.

The only thing I would change, and I realize it’s not only shown in the image but also incredibly minor, would be to have the wooden plugs on the front be better color-matched to the rest of the unit. They are dark and stick out quite a bit. This does not in any way affect my overall happiness with the product, and I know if I ever need another magnetic knife holder in the future, this is the one I’ll buy again.

  37. Anne

We didn’t know how well this would secure knives, but it’s great – the magnet being strong but not too strong to have to wrestle knives off of it. We attached another piece of wood to the back so it would stick out further than intended because of our granite backsplash. Just stained a small piece of oak and it looks great. Because we really only use three knives daily – chef, bread, and paring – this is so much nicer than having the knife block out holding knives we use only a couple of times a year. It holds 4 knives with plenty of space in between to get your hand around the handle. We bought the 12″ and are very pleased.

  38. Gus Krause

I had compared a lot of knife holders, metal and wood. I was initially concerned that a wood knife holder would not be strong enough to hold heavier items securely. I loved the look of this one and liked that it is offered in several sizes and colors. I’m so happy to report that this does a great job holding the heaviest knives, scissors and even sharpener. Unlike similar products, the magnets in this one are strong enough to not only hold heavy items, but also hold them straight. I bought Walnut and love the color. It looks beautiful in my kitchen. I didn’t want to use screws on my tile backslash, so instead I used silicone and double-sided 3M tape to keep it in place while the silicone dried.

This magnetic strip is amazing. It’s made out of a single piece of wood and I imagine it’s hand milled to specification depending on how you order it. I purchased a default 24″ length but there’s an option to purchase any length to the full inch you desire.

I’ve uploaded a bunch of pictures since there isn’t a whole lot of information on the back and that was relevant to me. There is just enough of a lip along the magnet channel that allows for 1/2″ 3M VHB or gorilla tape. I’m mounting onto tile and would prefer not to drill through. I imagine 2 strips is a bit over the top but I’ve mounted quite a few knives and better safe than sorry.

This magnetic strip is nice and discreet compared to commercial options and I also feel better about placing my knifes on it without accidentally chipping the blades. My cabinets are low enough that regular knife blocks with a vertical pull wouldn’t allow the knifes to clear so this is an elegant solution to that problem. I went with Walnut wood because it seemed like it would be the closest match to my Teak cutting board, however, it’s not a perfect match and that’s ok and to be expected. Even the same wood wouldn’t have matched as the board has changed colour over time due to regular oiling and use.

I do wonder if this knife strip would need to be oiled over time but it seems fine out of the box. There are some imperfections in the wood, since this is natural wood and not some manufactured piece. You should expect this and know that this is what gives the piece character and individuality.

Some criticism I would offer the maker would be the branding should be centered. It’s off to one side, which is a bit odd, so I’ve mounted it with the logo facing down so it’s not typically visible. If it were centered to the piece I would have been happy to display it. That being said, I think the extra magnets on the end outside of the mounting points is a nice touch and very much appreciated so that knives can be mounted all the way to the edge of the piece.

I’m very happy with my purchase and will update if I find some issue later on. If no update has been made, assume that this piece is still flawlessly doing its job.

Great item and easy enough for a girl to install and goodbye bacteria.

COME ON YOU GUYS! I got spooked by all the complaints about installation. Couldn’t be more straight forward, I honestly don’t see HOW you could mess this up? And it comes with wall anchors. Grab a pencil and figure out where to place the screws, if you have a level-knock yourself out and use that. Because I’m a girl and my wrists are weak I just bought the cheapest drill Amazon sells, drilled 2 small pilot holes, drilled in the anchors, used a level and in went the screws. Who had trouble with this? Even if you use a screwdriver you’ll feel when its fully tightened, Whole process took me 2 minutes, 3 if you count the time it took me to find a pencil. Thought I was going to need to buy a second one but it fit all of my knives. I highly recommend this product.

Pricey but of the highest quality, fit and finish. Easy enough to align holes, level and install. The walnut looks like fine cabinetry. The plugs fit perfectly and essentially disappear. I am considering a second one as I have plenty of knives to fill another. Yes, I grew up in a meat market.
I’ve had magnetic knife strips before attached my butcher block and while not safe for children, in an empty-nester-setting they were safe but with the blades still exposed requiring a little more diligence than where I’ve mounted mine.
This product gives the cabinetry-quality to display as in my pictures (sorry about the poor photo quality – also, I had not finished putting the plugs in flush at the time).

With the magnetic strip above normal traffic, it is easy to determine whether one prefers blades up, down, or facing a different direction. The strip mounts so solidly that it is both easy and safe to grab the needed blade – no rocking at all.

The magnet is extremely strong, and that requires some experience in pulling a knife off but ensures all blades are secure and tight. Highly recommended!

I previously had a stainless steel magnetic knife holder and it seemed more at home holding tools in my garage so when I came across this product and after remolding my kitchen I wanted this over the metal. Instead of using wall anchors that are included I chose to install 6mm bolts with lock washers and nuts on the inside of my cabinet.
I mounted this on the side of a pantry cabinet next to my sink so the thickness of the cabinet side is 1/2″ so I felt bolts was more secure and they are pretty inconspicious on the inside. This comes with plugs to insert in the mounting holes so you do not see any hardware. These are VERY strong and even held a 8″ Cast iron pan without so much as a hint of letting go. I love clearing my countertop of the butcher block while still having quicker access to my knives and can grab the knife I want without guessing whats what in the block… Plus I believe having the knifes on display brings a nice look to a otherwise plain pantry side.. I have an expensive knife set and proud to display them so.. The ONLY downside is I felt the color is slightly lighter then hoped.. I have dark chocolate cabinets and I felt this was closer then the darkest offers because they looked like just black while this has a nice grain pattern.. Just wish it was slightly darker. I purchased the WALNUT color 20″

I bought this to keep my chefs and prep knives off the counter. I put it on the side of the kitchen wall cabinet closest to where I prep. It keeps them up and harder for grandchildren to get. I put the knives with the handles up so they can’t slide down if for some reason the magnet didn’t hold them. But the magnet is very strong and I don’t see that happening, it’s just an extra security step on my part to keep the knives up off the counter at all times. Thinking of buying another to install on the inside of the cabinet door to keep my steak knives off the counter.

I have ~ a dozen knives on this rack (20″ length)- 2 chef knives, a santoku, 2 bread knives, a large slicer, and a number of small to medium size blades. The rack looks great, holds the knives with the right amount of force, and was straightforward to install. I am also definitely glad that we went for this instead of a metal bar. If I were to pick nits- at almost $60, this seems a bit pricey for what it is- wood and magnets. Once you install the rack, it is difficult to remove and reinstall, as the screws used to attach the bar to the wall are supposed to be obscured behind little wood plugs which seem to be made to press fit in, but not come out. This could be a challenge if you decide to paint your wall after you have installed the bar. Lastly, the very ends of the bar are not magnetic which is not a big deal, but it would have been nice to have the option to use that space for something light such as a carving fork. Overall, I use this product most every day, and enjoy having and using it.

I wanted more counter space, but didn’t have wall space either as my cabinets are low. This was ‘the ticket’! After researching various options and costs, this met all my criteria….great quality for the price; the magnetism is strong enough to hold my knives and even the sharpening rod securely without having to use ‘brute’ force or twisting to remove the knives yet holds them securely (it is installed underneath my cabinet so I was VERY concerned about them falling); quite gorgeous too (I “thought” I wanted stainless steel but so glad I got this walnut stained one as it blends well underneath the cabinet so it’s barely noticeable yet looks great when you do see it); easy to install (I did have to shorten the screws since it went underneath the cabinet; yet is still secure, doesn’t wobble or move at all); perfect size for the depth of my cabinets; visible enough for selecting the knife you want. I was pleased to learn to use the knife’s spine when returning it to the bar, then turn the knife gently so it doesn’t slam against the bar and let the handle rest against the bar (see the pic) (this will protect the blade’s edge from being knicked as it attaches). Great product!

My knives were living dull and dreary lives in a knife separator in the drawer, and I wanted to liberate them and provide easier access. After reviewing tons of options, my worry was that either the magnet would be too strong and pulling them off would be a challenge, or even worse not strong enough and they would fall and potentially chip. This strip is just the right amount of strength, as you can see in the picture all the knives hold relatively well, and getting them off is no issue.

I used 3M VHB double-sided tape 1/2″ to secure the back of the block and then applied it to the backsplash rocks. It’s rock solid and actually feels like I used the screws attached to a stud.

The actual look and quality is pretty nice and fits well with the backdrop. There were some complaints on the round wooden fillers not fitting, but a gentle hit with the hammer and they slide in. Overall, this is a very good option for knife display.

Quality piece. Looks nice and works well. I needed to install it on a granite backsplash. Due to the hollow back that limits the surface area and some level of warpage of the wood, I would not trust just using adhesive tape on the back of the wood. I cut a couple 2.5″ x 5″ pieces from a an aluminum sheet and used a scotchbrite pad to create a brushed finish. Screwed them into back of the strip with counter counter sunk holes in the aluminum. Cleaned both surfaces with acetone and put two vertical strips of Scotch Extreme double side tape on each, giving it about 20 square inches of tape. Appears to be rock solid for the 24in strip and looks good. Home Depot sells 2 in. wide aluminum strips that can be easily cut and drilled to do this. Maybe the manufacturer can consider offering a similar stainless mounting option for this type of installation in the future.

this is a beautiful knife rack, it really makes our kitchen look professional. the design is super simple, which would fit in well with modern or classic decor. I LOVE that you can order so many different sizes. the magnet is super strong — we’re definitely assured knives won’t slip off. great customer service too: one of the wooden plugs didn’t quite fit so I contacted the seller and they sent me several replacement ones, and the shipping was crazy fast.

my only (minor) criticism is that the rack sits so close to the wall, it’s hard to wrap my fingers around a knife handle. I solved this by buying a couple of thick nuts from the hardware store to use as spacers, and had to use longer screws as a result. no biggie, that was easy.

This is exactly what I needed and wanted in a magnetic knife rack. I recently invested in a set of 18 Damascus steel kitchen and steak knives, and they are too pretty to put in a drawer. I needed something strong, that looked nice, and would work in the space I had. I seriously did a happy dance when I found this knife rack and read the reviews. The one where the person used them to hang a collectoon of weapons really convinced me that this could hold my knives. I did a further happy dance when I found it was available in 30″, as the space I had was about 32″ wide and not tall enough to put 2 rows of racks. The rack holds my knives beautifully and very securely. There are no “dead spots” on this, other than the small space where the screws are, so you can position knives anywhere along its length, including right up to the edges. It was easy to hang. I used my own hanging hardware (I felt better using longer screws and metal anchors instead of the plastic ones it came with), and after reading other reviews, decided not to hammer the wood plugs in all the way, so I could get them out later if I need to (not leaving this behind if I move!) All in all, I am extremely pleased with this knife rack, and if I had more places to put them, I would buy more.

This is a no-nonsense knife strip that’s kind to your expensive, sharp-edged tools, and good-looking at the same time. The magnets are quite tenacious, so there’s little fear of knocking a knife loose unless you pack them too closely. Mounting was easy, with clear instructions. You’ll need a Phillips #2 screwdriver, a level (or a keen eye), and a small hammer to seat the wooden plugs that conceal the mounting screws. Hardware is provided for secure mounting to drywall and/or wood studs, but if you have tiled walls or old lathe-and-plaster, you may have to visit the hardware store for alternative mounting hardware. A small logo is engraved on the upper edge of the strip, but you can flip the strip if you prefer not to see it. Given our kitchen, a stacked arrangement of two 12″ strips worked best. A tip: To detach a knife from the strip, grip the handle and twist the blade so it’s perpendicular to the wood strip, effectively breaking the magnetic field.

My counter was getting a bit cluttered so decided to toss the knife block. After a lot of comparison shopping decided on these due to the great selection of lengths that could be ordered (and the humorous video with the cast iron pan).

To hang, rather than marking where you think both holes should go and then attempting to hang, I’d suggest you drill and partially screw one end in first until snug, level, and then drill/screw in the other side.

I don’t often write reviews, but this product deserves one. As the description suggests, there are no ‘dead zones;’ however, the ends are a bit weaker than the interior of the strip. So if you hang a pair of strips end-to-end, a knife with a wide heel will probably hang better at the junction.

That observation aside, this is a great product, and the magnets are surprisingly strong. I tried the pot trick myself, and it’s no joke! Would by again without hesitation!

I can’t tell you how much I love this Magnetic Knife Strip! I ordered it in walnut, 24 inches long. While I expected the color to be darker, I think it blends quite well with our tumbled marble backsplash and dark mahogany cabinets. I was super nervous about drilling into our marble tile, but I used a standard 1/4” masonry drill bit and took it slow. I used a level to place the strip and mark the holes for the screws. I drilled a little, and dipped the bit in water every 5-10 seconds to keep everything cool. Then, I inserted soft plastic anchors into the tile (I had to wrap a little electrical tape around the anchors to get a tight fit so they wouldn’t just spin when I began to screw in the screws). Once the screws were pretty hand tight (not too tight so as not to crack the tile or the knife strip) I placed the wooden plugs into the holes. Try to line up the direction of the wood grain so they blend even better. Then I covered the plugs with a thin metal spatula and tapped them gently with a hammer until they were flush with the wood strip. The entire installation only took about 15 minutes. I love having the extra counter space! And I don’t have to work about well meaning guests placing a dirty knife in the old block! The magnetic hold is very strong! The larger the knife, the stronger the hold!

Nice product in a choice of finishes. Good install instructions for those that need them. I mounted ours through the grout lines to avoid having to drill bigger holes into the ceramic tiles to accommodate the included wall anchors. Works fine this way but go slow and make sure the screw heads don’t strip as you hand tighten. Agree with the seller that its best to use a hand screwdriver for this reason and also because the magnetic can grab the screw as it’s inserted into the mounting hole. We had an aluminum / steel magnetic strip before this one, but needed a longer strip for the extra knives we’d bought. The wood is probably a little less durable than our previous metal one (duh!) but is more visually appealing and encourage one to be more careful placing them back on the strip which also makes you less likely to bang knife edges together.

Good quality-made knife strip. Easy to install. Working excellently. I used slightly less length woodscrews because rather than on-wall I put these under our over counter cabinets in our small kitchen. We had no wall space to place these in fact. I was originally not sure if these would be strong enough for this type of installation so I ordered only one at first and got the second after I was sure they would work. And they do! One is holding two 12” chef’s knives with nsf composite handles and the other is working well with the smaller ones. The woodgrain, color, and finish on these is very nice looking without any scratches or defects and frankly they are far more upscale in appearance than most other knife strips I had looked at. They have a nice handcrafted appearance not an industrial one. They are durably made as well as nice looking plus they work very well. Great product!

This is a great knife strip. Really pretty and easy to mount. I couldn’t hit any studs there surprisingly so I looked up a local metal shop a few blocks away and meandered in and asked if they had a thin 36″ strip of scrap aluminum I could buy off of them for cheap (hey it was worth a try), and it turns out they had one exactly the right size and gave it to me for free. So I actually mounted the metal to the studs and the knife strip to the metal using a drill thread tap thingy.

I’m sure the drywall screws would have worked fine but my cats food and water bowls are beneath the strip so I wanted to make sure it was sturdy. Anyway that aside, you can see my cabinets and walnut cutting boards wood for comparison. The strip isn’t as dark as my cutting board, but it looks pretty good for the price. Much better than plastic or metal ones in my opinion and better than any of the major competition I saw when shopping around. I guess I’ll need to convert my cabinets to walnut to match my knife strip, haha.

As a side note, I didn’t like where I mounted it and asked woodsom for replacement dowels through his seller page, I got them right away and now my strip is a little higher up and the wall is repaired… and all is well. So 5 stars for customer service too. Thanks woodsom!

Magnets are strong. It’ll hold up a cast iron pan no problem, and I only have one knife it doesn’t hold just because the knife has a very curved side, not enough flat spots to keep traction on the wood so it just slides down the wood despite having a good attraction. That’s fine, it’s one of my least use knives anyway. All my favorites are up there on display easy to reach. Very cool!

This is a great knife holder. I recently got a new Chefs, utility, and paring knife and wanted something that wouldn’t hurt the blades as could my previous metal bar.

Quality construction and I don’t notice any real dead spots other than a small one where the screw holes are.

The only possible ding I could give this is for the plugs. While they fit tight it’s almost too tight. I had to use a rubber mallet to get them in flush. To those complaining about the plugs not matching up perfectly with the grain of your holder, that really shouldn’t be an issue. In order for that to happen they would need to make sure that each and every plug cored out of the wood used was also from that exact piece. They would also need to make sure every person who purchased these actually put the plugs in to match the grain exactly the right way. It’s a knife holder. Sheesh.

I bought the 18″ so I wouldn’t have to use the drywall anchors and could just go straight into the studs 16″ apart. Love it and it looks great too.

Let’s start with the fact that these things are GORGEOUS! Excellent craftsmanship and fit/finish. Now to the question of strength. Many folks have inquired how much weight they will hold and do they hold knives firmly. Well, the attached photo should explain it all. I bought 7 of the 20″ units for building a display of an historic edge weapon collection… swords, axes, pole arms, spears etc. Suffice to say that these items are far more massive than your typical chef’s knives. The single heaviest piece is a 7 pound German bastard sword that connects with two of the knife strips, one near the hilt and one farther down the blade. The hold is superb. I even went so far as to punch the wall adjacent to the display to see if I could dislodge and of the pieces… nope! I was worried that the magnets were not up to the challenge, but boy was I surprised.

To be clear, the wall to which the display is mounted is made of tongue and groove cypress, so my substrate is much stronger than drywall. The wall must be able to support whatever the magnets can hold of course.
