Installation
How do you install it?
Installation is easy. Using a small level, screw the Easy Mount™ bar on the wall. Next, the MagShadow™ secures in place using a special locking system. No screws or fasteners are visible for a clean install.
Can I install vertically or horizontally?
All MagShadow™ sizes can be mounted either horizontally or vertically using our Easy Mount™ included hardware.
If I install horizontally, will it be safe?
If you install your MagShadow™ horizontally, we recommend purchasing more of our magnetic strips or magnetic hooks for added security. For instance, if you purchase a 24×5″ and install on its side, we recommend purchasing one of our hooks along with the Mono magnetic block it comes with. The knife handle would rest on the hanger, and the blade would magnetically stick to the Mono.
How far does it stick out from the wall?

Care
How is the interior surface finished?
The MagShadow™ is finished with a natural hard wax oil, free of any petroleum based products (like mineral oil). The wood interior will not scratch or dull polished blades.
Is there any risk of the magnet affecting the temper or edge retention?
No. The magnetic force will not affect the temper or edge retention. In fact, the wood interior of the MagShadow™ display system is far safer for your knives than alternative options. There are no metal-on-metal surfaces.
Will it hold heavier knives like cleavers or full-tang hunting blades?
Yes! Fun fact: a heavier cleaver, for example, actually sticks better than a light paring knife. The reason is simple: there is more metal on a cleaver (it’s thicker and has more surface area).
Factors that affect how knives & metal objects hang in the MagShadow™:
- Steel type (stainless, carbon steel, etc.)
- Blade profile (double-bevel, single-bevel, concave, etc.)
- Blade finish (brushed, dimpled, etc.)
- Blade height (paring knife vs cleaver)
